Job Description

The City of Yarra is one of Victoria’s most innovative and progressive Councils. Known for its flexibility and supportive development opportunities for its staff and with the aim to make a positive difference in people's lives and continually improve services to their community coupled with a vibrant café and restaurant scene and culturally and socially diverse community, the City of Yarra is an exciting place to work.

Following a strategic restructure of their finance team, a fantastic opportunity now exists for an experienced senior finance professional to play a leading role in the transformation of the finance function at the City of Yarra.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO and working in close partnership with the broader corporate leadership team, you will drive the development of a new finance focus through establishing a high performance team culture. Staff will be engaged, empowered and inspired to deliver a high level of service quality across the organisation and become known widely for being business enablers that take a partnering approach. With a core focus on improvement, you will bring new thinking to the processes, systems and policies and achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in achieving your key deliverables in the required timeframes. Finally, you will build strong working relationships across the organisation and become a trusted adviser across the business.

To be successful in this instrumental role, we are seeking an experienced, ambitious and dynamic leader who is CPA or CA qualified and who has proven capabilities in both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. You will bring a positive attitude, be values driven, demonstrate integrity and be an advocate of system and process enhancement or change. You possess strong communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate across the whole of an organisation. Furthermore you are a motivational leader who is highly regarded for your ability to empower teams to deliver a higher level of performance and output. Your experience will ideally come from Local Government or another public sector entity.
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to contribute to a progressive organisation and to enhance your career.
