Reporting to the Manager, Economic Development and forming part of the Development and Planning Division you will be instrumental in guiding the future growth and development for the City and driving outstanding visitor economy programs, projects and investment to manage positive change and sustainable growth.
The Coordinator Visitor Economy will lead the delivery of the Ballarat is Open Strategy on behalf of the City of Ballarat. Working collaboratively with industry and all levels of government the Coordinator will ensure the tourism industry in Ballarat positions itself as a leader through (but not limited to) marketing and events and major tourism infrastructure projects to create a thriving Ballarat. Furthermore, the Coordinator will work to integrate the visitor experience into the fabric of Ballarat, to continue the ongoing development of the broader economy, and to inspire creativity and innovation throughout the City’s industries, organisations and community.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, the City of Ballarat are seeking a dynamic, innovative and energetic Tourism industry expert with the ability to translate strategy and master plans into practical action which drive tourism programs and initiatives for positive change. Tertiary qualifications and / or extensive experience in tourism management is expected coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate and partner with internal stakeholder groups and externally with clients at all levels of government, the corporate sector, community groups and visitors.
