PrimeSafe was established on 1 July 2003 under the Seafood Safety Act 2003 and the Meat Industry Act 1993. PrimeSafe’s functions include control and review of standards for construction and hygiene at meat and seafood processing facilities. This control is achieved through a licensing and inspection system and audited quality assurance programs to ensure standards are maintained. PrimeSafe also regulates vehicles transporting meat and seafood with regard to construction, hygiene, cleanliness and maintenance.
As the Senior Officer, Governance and Policy, you will play a critical role in providing high level policy analysis and advice and work closely with senior level stakeholders including the Board, Committees, the CEO and management. Through the development and management of various documentation and reports, you will engage with stakeholders on a range of issues in relation to government policies, objectives and priorities related to the good governance and operations of PrimeSafe.
Being a relatively small organisation, your role will see you work in a flexible and agile way taking on opportunities to represent PrimeSafe at various government forums and meetings and also driving for continuous improvement through the internal audit program in pursuit of excellence.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a high attention to detail and be able to convert strategic decisions by the Board or CEO into practical communications/documentation. You enjoy engaging with stakeholders and working pro-actively to improve the organisation you work for. Being a self-starter, you bring excellent energy and a high level of motivation to achieve whilst also having a collaborative and people focused approach.
Ideally you have experience in a Victorian Government organisation or broader governance or policy roles. You are tertiary qualified in law, public policy, business management or project management (or something similar) and have a desire to be working in a role that you can shape over time and have a real impact through your work.
