J. Furphy & Sons is a 5th generation, family-owned manufacturing business and Furphy Engineering is the engineering manufacturing arm. Furphy Engineering specialises in stainless steel tank and vessel design, manufacture, inspection and maintenance with customers across Australia and plans to expand into New Zealand. Furphy Engineering are based in the regional city of Greater Shepparton, in Northern Victoria. The Engineering Manager will report to the General Manager of Furphy Engineering and effectively manage the performance of the engineering team, ensuring that customer orders are delivered on time and to a high level of satisfaction.
To be successful for this role you will be a qualified engineer (mechanical, chemical, or civil) with a high degree of project management nous. You will have a proven ability to solve problems as they arise, including technical, customer service, delivery, and process issues. No two days or jobs will be the same, as this is not a standard production line, and your ability to be agile and think on your feet will hold you in good stead to react to the daily requirements of the role.
You will be a confident communicator, able to engage with customers during and after the delivery of their projects to ensure satisfaction and continuous improvement opportunities. You will have a proven background working as an engineer, which will allow you to assist with technical and design issues, as well as an innate ability to develop strong, mutually beneficial relationships within your team and across the broader business.
