Development Victoria aims to create a sense of place and prosperity through development, urban renewal and community connection. As a statutory authority with their own Board, they deliver property and precinct development projects that enhance our state. The organisation seeks out opportunities to increase housing diversity near jobs, transport and services, while delivering civic projects and managing risks. Current projects include the revitalisation of central Dandenong, the Ballarat West Employment Zone, Ballarat GovHub, Fitzroy Gasworks, and the ongoing development of Docklands. Development Victoria also oversees important civic projects such as the State Library, Melbourne Arts Precinct Renewal and Melbourne Park redevelopments.

This newly-created executive position will play a critical role in the success of Development Victoria in what is pivotal time for both the organisation and industry. The projects that Development Victoria deliver will provide social, economic, and environmental outcomes that will also help to stimulate the Victorian economy and create thousands of jobs.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director is a key executive leadership role within an exciting and dynamic property development environment. Leading a diverse and highly capable team, you will protect and support Development Victoria's commercial interests, ensuring that enterprise risk, compliance and legal affairs are effectively managed. Key to success will be the ability to provide technical advice and support to the executive and across the organization, as well as supporting the Board, relevant department and other government stakeholders to deliver outcomes to the community.

A values-based and forward-thinking leader, you bring senior leadership experience in either an in-house legal team or law firm and have been admitted to practice as a solicitor in Victoria. You will be highly respected for your collaborative and influential approach and have significant experience in commercial and/or contract law. You have the capability to work at both a strategic and operational level, providing legal advice to the Executive and holding internal and external stakeholders to account. Whilst public sector experience is not essential, you will bring and understanding of working with government or related environments and within legislative parameters. Knowledge of property development will also be advantageous.
